Elmbridge Eagles Oaken Lane Ground Update

Elmbridge Borough Council is working closely with Elmbridge Eagles Rugby League Club, Sport England and the Rugby Football League to complete the ground works at the clubs home ground at Oaken Lane. Some initial preparatory works has recommenced at site.  When weather allows, the intention is to complete the initial phase of the project and then the final drainage and topsoil will complete the project and allow the grass seed to establish and complete the new sports pitches. We are aware that this has taken longer than anticipated to complete this project, but all parties are committed and working together to allow community sport to restart at the earliest opportunity. The legal issues and covid affects have been many / complicated and have been an incredible time consuming and financially draining test of adversity to overcome for the volunteer management of the club.

In readiness for the completion of the work on the pitches a Sport England Crowd funding campaign has been launched for improvements of the club house and access to the clubhouse. The campaign has again been supported by Sport England, the Rugby Football league and Elmbridge Borough Council.

Elmbridge Eagles would like to thank their club members, parents and management volunteers, Old Cranleighans - our temporary home, all our local neighbours and the local community for their patience, Elmbridge Borough Council, Sport England, The RFL 2021 World Cup Legacy Fund and the Rugby Football League for their continued support to the club during the difficult covid affected period for community support. We look forward to getting back to Oaken Lane ASAP.
